Intro – The history of ghostwriting

Describes the art of ghostwriting, giving the history with examples of famous people who used ghostwriters and explains why this line of work is needed.
This segment also gives examples of what kind of texts you can write as a ghostwriter and why your position is important – you bring a fresh perspective!

Module 1 – The art of being invisible – in print and digitally
Visible, not visible or a co-author? We explain the phenomenon of writing invisible being the voice of somebody, and also giving up the right to your words.

The module also walks you through different forms of writing, both printed and digitally.
In the end you will get bullet points and also three assignments to work with, practicing capturing the voice and continue to flesh out the story or text in the same tone.

Module 2 – How to get your writing routine organized
Here you will learn what do you need in form of external resources and inner resources, and how to create a writing routine that works for you.
We will also give you advice on how to work through writers block/ writing cramps and how to avoid the chaos trap.
In the end you will get bullet points and also an assignment to work on finding your own most efficient and satisfying writing process.

Module 3 – Outlines for fiction and non-fiction
This module walks you through how to turn that essence into an outline and how to structure that outline. How you should prepare for interviews and how to find the story, build characters and hook them in.
This module gives examples of different genres to work with, like autobiographical, fact books, fiction and non-fiction. We discuss if you can take on all types of projects and which you should say no to.
In the end you will get bullet points and also an assignment on how to find your outline and structure method and how to build characters.

Module 4 – How to match personal chemistry with your client
How important is personal chemistry and what happens if you do not get along? How do you work through that? What if your client is an already published author?
We will walk you through different customer types and how to handle them and how to establish a professional relationship. This module is a great preparation for the next – the art of interviewing!
In the end you will get bullet points and an assignment with three very different types of costumers to practice how develop how you handle and manage them during the process.

Module 5 The Art of Interviewing and writing someone´s true story
Here we’ll talk about the fine art of Interviewing, what questions you should choose and how to ask them. We also bring up how to construct and conduct an interview to make sure you exhaust all information needed and how to work with the interview in order to build a story. We discuss how to prepare yourself and your client and we will also cover what you can do if you find yourself in a pitfall. Lastly, we talk about the essence of listening.
In the end you will get bullet points and an assignment where you will try out different interview techniques.

Module 6 – How to turn the essence of your client’s idea or plot into an excellent outline for fiction / Turning Interviews into an intriguing story
Now it´s time to take a look at how best turning your client’s idea into a compelling, page turning read, no matter genre. How to choose and opt out and how to start, based on the previous chapters, identifying and building the characters. We will give you some different genre examples and also bring up the very important question of subjects you are not comfortable writing and how to handle that.
In the end you will get bullet points and an assignment on how to………..

Module 7How to adapt the written language to the task
Here we talk about the different languages, ie linguistics, used when writing articles, books, blogs etc. and the outline suiting that project. We will also cover the narrator’s voice, tonality, how to work with quotes and how to angle and apply angle to the text.
In the end you will get bullet points and an assignment on how to………..

Module 8 – The writing process, getting feedback from your client and editing
Now it’s time to get organized and start the writing process. Time consumption is an important aspect and we will talk about how you estimate how long it takes to write a book, or an article for that matter, and in what rate you could/should deliver the material and how this may differ depending on the client. We will also talk about how to receive feedback from a client, perhaps if they are not really satisfied and how to edit, change and adapt the text to the customer’s satisfaction.

Module 9 – Finishing and packaging – how to wrap up the story
How do you finish, how do you know when you are finished and how do you convince a client that the book is finished? How do you deal with a client’s baby syndrome (not wanting to letting go of the project when it is done) and submit it to a publisher? And how packing the story.
